Dickson Ndegwa Mbugua

Education
Dickson Ndegwa Mbugua graduated with a BA (HONS) economics and political science at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda in 1975.
Postgraduate training
He had a Postgraduate course on trade promotions and export marketing research from the University of Manchester, UK.
He attended a Seminar on international marketing and trade promotion, management of exports to the west European markets at the CBI (Centre for promotion of imports from developing countries) – Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Export financing/Re-Financing and export credit guarantee schemes at eastern and southern Africa trade promotion and training Centre, Nairobi, Kenya.
Employment
Ministry of commerce and industry-Kenya Government (1976-1995)
- The provincial trade development officer in charge of Nairobi.
- The imports licensing officer in charge of the cargo terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
- The officer in charge of sugar distribution in Kenya, and also the treasurer and secretary of the sugar equalization fund.
Ministry of foreign affairs-Kenya government (1995-2003)
Commercial counsellor at the Kenya high commission, London. The area of jurisdiction extended to cover the republic of Ireland and Switzerland.
Core functions included:
- Promotion of foreign investors to Kenya.
- Promotions of imports from Kenya.
- Promotion of tourism.
- Member of the eastern Africa association (headquartered in London, representing the interests of foreign investors in Kenya and other eastern Africa countries).
- Member of the UK tea council and the grain council (both in London).
Charles Waweru Gatonye
Director
Mr. Charles Waweru Gatonye is a very experienced lawyer in Kenya, and is a founder member of Economic Capital Limited.
He graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1974 with L.L.B (Honors). He is also an advocate having worked in the office of the Attorney General and rose to become a deputy to the then Director of Prosecutions.
He is a member of the law society of Kenya, the national advocates’ disciplinary committee, east Africa law society, international commission of juristus as well as the international chartered institution of arbitrators. He is also a certified public secretary. He has had the singular honour to be appointed by His Excellency the president of Kenya as an assisting counsel to the just concluded Goldenberg inquiry investing the loss of billions of shillings of public funds.
Mr. Gatonye was also appointed by the central Bank of Kenya as lead counsel to the commission of inquiry into the sale and transfer of the Grand Regency, (The Kimunya commission)
He has also a lot of experience in court work and has litigated at the highest levels in our country. Some of the big litigations that Mr. Gatonye has handled in the past included the central bank of Kenya versus Uluru highways development authority worth kshs13.5 billion and block hotels holdings versus kamlesh pattni, again worth billions of shillings. He is currently involved in a number of litigious briefs for the Kenya revenue authority relating to unpaid taxes for sums of more than USD 45 million.

He has been exposed and has a wide experience in legal practice as an advocate of the high court of Kenya for a period of ten (10) years. This has exposed him to legal experience as illustrated here in.
